What we offer

Our psychosomatic services are aimed exclusively at private patients, those entitled to benefits and self-payers.The KIRINUS Alpenpark Klinik offers customised therapeutic treatment with high-frequency individual psychotherapy for mental illnesses such as depression, burnout, eating disorders or trauma-related disorders. The quality of service, the warm hospitality, the culinary delights and the top location of the hotel all contribute to the success of our therapy.

Psychosomatics

You are in the right place with these diagnoses

  • Depression

Depression is an affective disorder that can manifest itself as a depressed mood, negative thoughts, low mood and listlessness, loss of appetite, insomnia and even pain. In addition to high-frequency individual therapy (with up to five individual sessions per week), we rely on a multimodal, guideline-based treatment concept with elements of gestalt therapy, physiotherapy, sociotherapy and pharmacotherapy.

  • Burnout

Burnout is a state of emotional and physical exhaustion caused by prolonged stress and overburdening. Patients suffer from a lack of energy, fatigue and accompanying depression. Our treatment focuses on the individual stress-triggering factors. As part of the therapy, we work together to create lists of priorities and to activate the patient's own resources in order to strengthen their resilience.

  • Post-traumatic stress disorder | PTSD

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that follows one or more stressful experiences of extraordinary or catastrophic proportions (psychological trauma). The threatening situation may have been experienced directly by the person, or witnessed and experienced by others, such as witnessing a serious accident or an act of violence.

Our treatment approach is based on the proven method of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) to reprocess the stressful memory. The patient follows the therapist's fingers with their eyes while the therapist moves their hand alternately to the right and left. The brain uses this stimulation to activate its own self-healing powers and process the stressful memory.

  • Acute crisis | Crisis intervention

In an acute crisis, people lose their inner balance when they are confronted with situations or circumstances that they cannot cope with at that moment. Thoughts and feelings are disturbed, and your thoughts go round in circles. The aim of our crisis intervention is to address and work through current conflicts or immediate triggers of the crisis as quickly as possible through brief but intensive psychotherapy. At the same time, we work on overcoming the problem in order to achieve acute relief.

  • Personality disorders

A personality disorder is a deeply ingrained pattern of behaviour that manifests itself in rigid reactions to various life situations and has a massive impact on the quality of life of the person affected. The main types are borderline, antisocial, narcissistic, schizotypal, assertive, dependent and obsessive-compulsive personality disorders. We begin by working with our patients to develop realistic treatment goals. Using behavioural and depth-psychological intervention techniques, we identify the reasons for current behaviours that are distressing or obstructive to the individual, in order to achieve a gradual and lasting change in behaviour.

  • Psychocardiology

There is often a link between cardiovascular disease and psychological conditions such as depression and anxiety. Our multidisciplinary treatment team therefore provides patients with a comprehensive treatment plan that covers both aspects: In addition to intensive inpatient psychotherapy, we support our patients throughout their stay with cardiological expertise and cardiological diagnostics and monitoring.

  • Eating disorders

Eating disorders such as binge eating and bulimia, and the obesity that often results from them, are often caused by dysfunctional regulatory mechanisms, i.e. eating behaviour compensates the difficulties in dealing with emotions. We work with our patients to identify the reasons for these dysregulations and help them to develop and practise alternative functional regulatory mechanisms.

  • Somatoform disorders

Somatoform disorders are long-lasting physical complaints for which there is no clear medical cause. They often involve pain in different parts of the body (e.g. back, stomach, head or joints) or dizziness, digestive problems, and heart and breathing difficulties.

These complaints are often representative of unresolved psychological conflicts. With the help of dedicated biographical work, we help our patients to recognise connections between the lack of solution strategies and the simultaneous occurrence of physical complaints. An important basis for this is the understanding that mind and body form a coherent unit (=psychosomatics).

  • Sleep disorders / Nightmares

Nightmares can wake you up and make you feel exhausted. Those who suffer from them regularly often develop a fear of falling asleep. To get back to a restful sleep, we teach patients how to control their dreams. In the first step of our nightmare therapy, we improve general sleep hygiene and use relaxation and imagery techniques. In the second step, we work on the content of the dream using imagery rehearsal therapy.

  • Internet addiction

Surfing, chatting, playing games: The Internet has become an integral part of our daily lives. On average, we spend several hours a day online. The line between this and internet addiction is often blurred. As it is difficult to give up online media compared to other addictions, treatment aims to teach people how to use the internet responsibly while developing their social skills in the real world.

Note: It is important for the success of treatment that family members are also involved in this form of therapy.

  • Panic attacks/anxiety

A panic attack is a single, sudden physical and mental panic reaction, usually lasting only a few minutes, without any recognisable external cause. People are often unaware that their symptoms are an expression of a panic reaction. The vegetative reactions in the body, which are originally designed to provide energy (and therefore survival), are experienced as (life) threatening, which further intensifies the panic. Our therapy therefore focuses on learning strategies to calm oneself. In addition, we use exposure techniques, i.e. the conscious confrontation with anxiety-provoking situations, in order to reduce the symptoms of anxiety, which are usually experienced as excessive.

  • Psycho-Oncology

For many people with cancer, the diagnosis is an existential threat. Anxiety, helplessness and mood swings can lead to severe psychological crises and depression. The KIRINUS Alpenpark Klinik specialises in the holistic care of patients in their physical and psychological imbalance. Our aim is to accompany you through this difficult phase of your life and help you activate new resources.

  • Brooding*

*Brooding is not a diagnosis in its own right, but a symptom associated with many psychosomatic conditions.

It is estimated that 16 to 20 people out of 100 will develop depression at some point in their lives. However, not every low or exhausted mental state is necessarily a depressive mood.

Our approach to psychosomatic care

Integrative treatment approach

In addition to high-frequency individual therapy, we also offer a range of body-oriented procedures. From the outset on, you will have the opportunity to use a range of complementary therapies to help you achieve your treatment goals. For example, you can learn relaxation techniques such as autogenic training, PMR or mental relaxation. You can also book exercise classes such as Nordic walking and aqua gymnastics.

The in-house gym is also available. Whether you choose yoga, Pilates, osteopathy or cranio-sacral therapy, you decide what will help you achieve your individual therapy goals. You will also be supported by expert medical colleagues in internal medicine, cardiology and orthopaedics. You will receive psycho-educational sessions in the form of seminars, nutritional advice and social counselling. In terms of psychotherapy, we can offer you both behavioural therapy and methods based on depth psychology. It is important for us to be able to offer you an individualised integrative treatment concept.

High-frequency
individual psychotherapy

Treatment focuses on intensive individual psychotherapy, usually with four individual sessions per week. Diagnostic and biographical work takes place during your individual therapy. Interdisciplinary post-COVID-AHB after COVID-19 disease

Patients who have survived a severe course of COVID-19 are often recommended to undergo coronary rehabilitation tailored to their specific needs after COVID-19 disease.

Initial mobilisation should have been completed. However, patients who still require oxygen should primarily undergo pulmonary rehabilitation in a suitable specialist lung clinic.

Together with our team of doctors of cardiology, orthopaedics, gastroenterology and psychosomatics, we have developed an interdisciplinary medical concept for follow-up treatment that focuses on physical and mental regeneration after COVID-19. Patients undergo a holistic medical check-up with individually tailored therapy.

  • What does the follow-up treatment do?
    • Admission assessment with medical examination, exercise test (e.g. 6-minute walking test, ergometry), echocardiography (to rule out cardiac damage/relevant involvement of the heart), long-term ECG
    • Psychosomatic diagnostics (exhaustion/fatigue syndrome, also in order to differentiate from depressive moods), treatment of sleep disorders and psychological support
    • Gradually monitored medical training therapy and targeted respiratory gymnastics (if necessary also wound care after tracheostomy)
    • Relaxation therapy with gymnastics, yoga
    • Concentration and memory training
    • Education and counselling, reintegration into professional life
    • Odour training for loss or impairment of the sense of smell or taste
    • Nutritional counselling, if necessary high-calorie supplementary nutrition for severe weight loss
    • Treatment of concomitant diseases such as diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure, cardiac insufficiency
  • Admission requirements:

Follow-up treatment is available to privately insured patients, self-paying patients and patients entitled to benefits.

  • Duration of follow-up treatment:

The total length of stay at our private clinic in Bad Wiessee is up to 21 days, with the possibility of an extension if medically indicated and requested by the attending physician to the health insurance company.
